Book Review: THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN

A Novel Approach

By Karl Fredrickson, Editor, Speedway Illustrated magazine

The Art of Racing in the Rain is a brilliant novel, even if you’re not a novel reader. Told from the perspective of Enzo, a beloved family dog, the story chronicles a road racer’s family and the triumph that comes from a racer’s determined attitude.

Those who don’t share the passion for racing and dogs often misunderstand those of us who do, so it’s enjoyable to read author Garth Stein who really gets both and uses them to tell the tale.

Grand Am KONI Challenge Series driver Kevin York provided real-life inspiration and, no doubt assisted with technical expertise since the racing material is spot on.

If you’re a racer and/or a dog person, you’ll consider The Art of Racing in the Rain money and time well spent.
